Onward and Upward

I just looked at a calendar. How did this happen? How did I miss the last four months? It feels like, ever since the farmer's markets ended, I've been in a blur! This is one of the reasons I love the mark of a New Year. Technically, it's just another day on the calendar, but it's a great time for a fresh start. I have so many goals and dreams, why not start implementing them on the first day of the new year!

This year has been a really difficult one, for my family, and for a lot of people I know. I think I will make it my personal mission to make 2012 different. Yes, everyone says that every year, but I am truly tired of feeling like I'm always scrambling to keep up.

Keep on the look out, my dear friends, for some major changes in the way Zoe's Boutique is run! This is our year!

Because I can

So, I'm super behind on postings and listings, thanks to my naughty, naughty computer and it's lack of consideration. I completely missed out on Cyber Monday, so I will be doing an entirely different sale next week to make up for it! Next week is my birthday, so I have a week long birthday celebration, aka tons of discounts and giveaways to announce! Rather than me RECEIVING gifts, I plan on GIVING gifts to my incredible and wonderful friends and customers! You guys really are the best. I'm also starting a new blog, in addition to this one I love love love to cook, create new recipes, etc, and I am going to start sharing them more. I had started a blog over a year ago on the subject, but it was strictly crockpot cooking, which I love, but this will have more to it! For a quick example....I made a cajun spiced bacon wrapped turkey for Thanksgiving this year. mmmmmm. My deviled eggs aren't your typical taste, and I will part with my secret! Should be fun! I'll be posting a link to the site in about an hour, so stay tuned! I'm also toying with starting another, entirely random, but incredibly fun blog.....more on that later! I just wanted to catch up with everyone and start some announcements!

Thank you again, to all my amazing friends, fans, and customers. I don't know where I would be without you! xoxo! In appreciate of you all, I am offering a coupon code in my Etsy shop, good until December 4th. If you use the code THANKYOU, you get 15% off your order :-) Also, just bear with me, I promise i have a ton of items to put on Etsy, as soon as I can get my computer working! Love ya guys!

Call for Turkeys!!!

Good morning, my darlings!! I've been plugging right along, trying to get this business off the ground successfully. I have a lot to be thankful for....which brings me to the reason for today's post. I was driving my monkeys to school today, and heard a news story about how the local soup kitchen, the Marian House, is in desperate need of turkeys for both the soup kitchen, as well as the thanksgiving baskets they distribute throughout the community to those who can't afford a Thanksgiving meal. The Marian House has done a lot of my family and me over the years, if I could afford to buy a bunch of turkeys and donate them, I would, but I'm still not out of the woods. So, I'm asking all of my beautiful fans to help out. I'm going to donate some of my business product for this cause. If you are interested in donating a turkey to the Marian House, get in touch with me, I will come pick it up, meet with you wherever you want, or you can drop it off at my house. In return, I am offering a $10 gift card to Zoe's Boutique for each turkey donated, any size turkey will do! You can use that on custom orders, flowers I have already made, or just hold onto it and see what other great products are coming out (there's a bunch coming, promise!) Here's the contact info if you are willing to help...

Had to Share!!

Good morning, or should I say afternoon at this point? Anyway, I've been working non stop on my website, Etsy, photos, networking, linking, blogging, yikes! As I am out there on the web, I stumbled on this really tasty looking pie. I click on the picture to find the recipe, and I was shocked! This is a FELT pie!!! The artist is so incredibly talented, I just HAD TO share it!!! I was browsing their Etsy shop, and there are SO many really cute designs...I think I know what I'll be getting Zoe for Christmas!

Happy Veteran's Day!

I love Veteran's Day! I am a huge supporter of the troops, home, abroad, past, present and future. I believe they and their loved ones sacrifice so much, so that we can have the lives that we have. THANK YOU for everything you do for our country <3 xoxoxoxo.

I created some hair bows to show support, while still looking cute! In honor of the military today, I am offering 15% off your order on my Etsy sight! Use coupon code VETERANS01.

Some more new stuff!

I know, I know, I've been on blogging overload the last few days, but, in my defense, I got reeeeaaaaalllly behind on anything and everything business related there for awhile, and now it's time to play catch up! Today, I have just a few things to touch base on....thanks to my oh so lovely, and way talented graphics designer and friends, Zoe's Boutique now offers gift certificates! I hear people at the markets constantly saying how much they LOVE my products, and just KNOW that their granddaugter/cousin/sister/mom would love something like this, but they aren't quite sure just WHICH one they would like....well, problem solved! Just get in touch with me via email at zoesboutique@live.com, facebook me at www.facebook.com/zoesboutique, twitter me @zoesboutique, or you can do the old fashioned way and text or call me @ 719-306-8120.  You can also check out the Etsy listing here:

Ok, next up, speaking of Etsy, I have posted some listings, which I haven't done since before summer started!! I've added a link to said Etsy shop on the left hand side of this blog. Granted, I've only added about 8 items at this point, but as soon as I log off here, I will be headed into my "studio" to take more product photos, photoshop the glare etc. and upload! I have boxes upon boxes of product to photograph and upload, so this could take a bit!

Also, anyone that orders from me, I now offer gift wrapping at no additional cost. Just let me know what occasion the item is for, so I can wrap accordingly! Pretty sure that's all I have for now. I'm headed to the "studio" to take photos now, more products soon! Xoxo!

Logo Unveil!

Over the summer, I met an incredibly talented young lady, Kitty. She has designed me some pretty amazing things, I have an official logo, gift certificates, business cards, and soon, letter head!! To say the least, I am feeling all kinds of new motivation and excitement. So, without further adieu, my official logo, everyone!!!

On that note, anyone that is looking for a graphics designer, let me know, miss Kitty is incredible!!

One Warm Coat Drive Official Kick Off!!!!

Good morning, my lovely friends!!! Today is a truly glorious autumn day, complete with clouds, wind, blowing leaves and the promise of a snow storm later today. Sitting here, sipping vanilla coffee, wearing a sweater, comfy as can be in my home, I can't help but think of how cold it is outside, and how horrible it would be to try and live out the season with no coat. I found this amazing charity online, called One Warm Coat, and signed up for it as an advocate. Basically, I am using all of my business connections to collect as many coats as possible, and will be donating them to the Marian House. The Marian House is a local charity that runs so many wonderful programs for people who have found themselves in a position of need. As we all know, times are extremely difficult right now, and the needs are great. Most of us are not in the position to provide a lot of assistance, but if we all band together, and each of us provide just a small item, we can help a lot of people. This coat drive is not limited to coats, either. Any sort of clothing or food you would like to donate would be GREATLY appreciated also. I recently learned the Marion House is in desperate need of coffee donations, as well as food donations for the soup kitchen. Get in touch with me, and I will come to your house or place of your choosing to pick up any donations you have, that way, you don't have to go out of your way to help. I'll do all the leg work! I'm a huge believer in charity and paying it forward. You can reach me on my cell phone via text or phone call (719) 306-8120, email me at zoesboutique@live.com, facebook me www.facebook.com/zoesboutique, or hit me up on twitter https://twitter.com/#!/zoesboutique. Let's try and make a huge difference in someone's life this year!!

Huge Announcement!!!

Hello, my beautiful friends!!! It has been a truly GORGEOUS couple of days! I am fully aware of the fact everyone thinks I'm nuts, but the fact remains, I love love LOVE the snow!!! And, any chance I get to wear a sweater...well, let's just say my love of sweaters is borderline psychotic! xoxoxoxoxoxo. I get all warm and fuzzy and giddy..then I get all sad and mopey when it gets all warm and sunny again...but, I digress. This weather has put me in a crazy happy place, and, there are STILL lovely autumn leaves on most of the trees!!! Oh wait, I had an announcement to get to before I started all my weather ramblings...ready....ready for it....drum roll please....

ok, here it is!! Starting Monday, October 31, 2011, Zoe's Boutique will be featured in a store! One you can go into and shop around! The ladies at Recess Children's clothing have decided to carry about 20 or so of my products, on a trial basis, to see how they sell. If they do well, then I might just be a regular vendor for them! So very excited! Here's where you can find them....

Recess Children's Clothing
1721 West Colorado Avenue
Colorado Springs, CO 80905

And,, for the record, this was quite possibly one of the CUTEST little shops I've ever been in! I now want to own a store of my own, VERY badly. I will get there...this is my ultimate goal....

Also, I still have some items at Lucy's Consignment. I feel bad, I have been neglecting getting over to the lovely owner, Chris, and getting her more feathers and flowers. Things around the house have been....weird. We will leave it at that.

Here's where Lucy's is at (she has super super cute clothes!! And, her hair flowers are just lovely, if I do say so myself!)

3373 North Academy Boulevard
Colorado Springs, CO 80917

So, on this note, I will get going, but I am soooooo excited!!! I will be dropping some items off on Monday, go take a look, support me, if you so choose, and then I get to move forward and onward!!

A Quick "Hello"!

Good morning, my pets!! I just wanted to do a super quick update, to let everyone know, I have not forgotten about you!! I've had a super rough couple of weeks health-wise, and haven't been able to do any markets, or make any flowers, but I'm working on it now! I'm still hurting pretty good, but the doc has me on some new meds, so I should start to heal soon. Basically, I have been diagnosed with something called Temporomandibular joint disorder, and it is HORRIBLE. Here's a link to the symptoms, for anyone that's curious. I've got the majority of the ones on the list, although, I will admit, they are getting slightly better with the new meds.
http://www.rochesteradvanceddentistry.com/tmj-symptoms.html

The reason I'm blogging today is to let my WONDERFUL customers and friends know, I am still around, I am still working on all kinds of new and exciting products and shows, but things have taken a back burner until I can stand to be without Vicodin for more than a couple of hours. I'm one miserable girl at the moment! I do promise you this, I will be back with a vengeance and soon!

Happy Autumn Weather!!

The weather outside today is,, for lack of a better word....PERFECT! It's cool, crisp, gloomy, foggy....I'm wearing a sweater, my favorite thing in the world!!! Yesterday was spent out and about making numerous deliveries, today will be spent updating websites and smoothing out issues. My websites have been an utter mess for months now, and I apologize for that!! I never could have anticipated how amazingly well my business was going to explode this summer! What a pleasant surprise! So, today I am working on the websites, as well as building myself a little light box, which I'm hoping will help my product photos look a little more professional. I am making an absolute TON of changes! After working the summer, learning what sells, what doesn't, who wants what and for how much, I have a lot of things to re-examine. Hopefully, I get this all done in a decent amount of time, so my wonderful customers don't get too upset with me and my lack of proper technology! Love you guys! xoxo!!

Welcome to Tuesday, kittens!!

Good afternoon!! Yesterday at Acacia was, happily, a smashing success! I had my oldest monkey there to help me along, which was fantastic! Now, it's time to make more product, as I sold a ton yesterday, and I have new items I'm going to scramble my hardest to have ready by the next market....fingers crossed! I'm attempting to work with my website today, but technology seems to have other ideas! Ta well, here I go to try again! Thank you to everyone again for your support, it means everything! xoxo

A new week, coming up!!

Happy Sunday, kittens! This has been a rather disappointing weekend, all in all for my little business, but there are most certainly going to be days like that in any business. The Sunday flea market has been a rough one for me more than it has been successful, so unfortunately, I think I will be cutting that market out and finding a replacement someplace. Monument was wonderful last weekend, a bit dead this weekend, so fingers crossed next Saturday will pick up. Tomorrow is Acacia park farmer's market, which is, hands down, my favorite market. I have new displays, My Sean built them for me, and they are way easier to see the flowers, we are working on the pendant display tonight. I have a new table, a new canopy, I am able to accept credit cards now, and I'm working on getting my website fancier and prettier. I also need to give my Etsy store a bit of attention this evening. I'm also going to be working with some local salons and shops and seeing about putting some of the pretties on consignment, I'm pretty excited about this!! To top it all off, there is a really amazing thunderstorm raging outside my house right now! LOVE IT!!! Ok, time to get to work! Love you guys!! xoxo

Thursday? Is it Thursday or Friday? Hmmmm....

Coffee. Check. Second, third and sixth cups of coffee. Check check. Big jug of cold water. Check. Time to get moving on some computer catch up! I have sorely neglected my various online accounts as of late, so, this is my plan for the afternoon. I have a TON of pictures to post, as I've been creating like mad. A lot of what I created, sadly, got sold before I could take pictures (and some of it was really good, darn!). Yesterday, I sat here and made over 50 (yes, 50) of those little mini flower hair clips that sell so fast, I honestly can't keep up with them. THIS should get me just a teeny bit ahead, which I soooo needed!

Today, more catch up. My website is just a sad, sad, little place right now. I will finish typing this and head straight to the sight and clean it up. I will have product pictures up (taking the pictures is the absolute worst part!), prices, online exclusives, you name it!

Also, way exciting, I got myself a smartphone, which I am entirely addicted to. It has an app for everything! I can track my mileage when I'm working, my business receipts, my sales for any given day, keep up with emails, facebook postings, you name it! How in the world did I ever live without it??? Anyway, the point I was getting at, was that I have received my card scanner in the mail, and I am now set up to take credit card payments on the go!! I feel so fancy ;-)

Ok, off to work, I hear a bunch of thunder rolling in, let's hope for another amazing storm like yesterday! However, no storms Saturday, Sunday or Monday, until late late afternoon, because I'll be out working.

New items!!!

Good morning, kittens!! I am horribly behind, once again, on keeping all of you up to date, so I thought I would take a moment and catch up with my adoring public ;-)

Sooooo these farmer's markets are a lot harder than I was expecting! I'm talking crazy physical labor here! Setting up and breaking down is a constant battle, what with my bad knees and ankles and foot, but I'm managing. We are trying to iron out the process, so it's not as cumbersome or time consuming, and it's an ongoing process to figure out what works and what doesn't. I have a fairly decent idea of what needs to happen, so, we shall see! Besides the new bows, flowers, headbands and hats I have created, I came out with an entire new line of pendants and bracelets. With any luck, I will have time today and tomorrow to work on getting pictures taken so I can post them on the website. The website, www.ZoesBoutiqueOnline.com, is sooooooo far behind, it's almost scary. I am seriously considering hiring an outside source to get the site up and functional, as I am far busier than I expected to be at this point. I am struggling to keep stock on my "shelves", which is incredible and awesome, but isn't doing my online followers any favors.

As far as being behind and playing catch up, mostly I blame the move! We are almost settled in, but it's definitely taking longer than normal, due to my crazy schedule. Hopefully towards the beginning of August we can have a housewarming BBQ! mmmmm BBQ.....

Ok, I suppose I need to get busy. If anyone needs any custom orders, has any questions, comments, suggestions, go ahead and email me at zoesboutique@live.com, or text/call me at 719-306-8120. Love you guys!!! xoxo

Move in progress!

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know, we are in the process of moving, Friday is the big day! So, just bear with us, we will be up and running in full swing by Monday!

Farmer's Market Season is ON!!

Ok, I was in such a hectic rush the last week, I  completely neglected my little blog here. Zoe's Boutique participated in their first ever farmer's market on Saturday and it was so much fun! Quite the learning experience. Luckily, it was a smaller, slower market, the first day ever for that particular location, so it was the perfect place to get my feet wet. I learned I needed better weights for my canopy for sure! Today, Zoe's Boutique is going to try their hand at the Acacia Park farmer's market. This could get interesting. This is the park directly in the middle of downtown Colorado Springs, so it's an entirely different crowd, and it's been around forever, so it will most likely be a bit busier than Saturday's. This time, I am taking a stab at doing this entirely by myself, since it's Monday and everyone is working....Wish me luck!

Don't forget to check out the little web page I'm attempting to put together, at www.ZoesBoutiqueOnline.com.

Ok, time to drink some coffee, get some flowers made up, pack the truck, say hello to the babysitter, and run out the door to brave rush hour traffic downtown!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Well under way!

Busy busy busy!! :-) I got a wild hair and decided to try my hand at making some fancy sun hats, since us true princess types can't be burned by the blinding sun! Here is my first of the series!

Gearing up!

So, I've been working non stop getting products and displays ready for the upcoming Farmer's Market season! This is my first season doing this, so I am really, really nervous! I so hope people like my "things"! My wonderful fiance has been working hard trying to help me build the crazy creations I have imagined up as displays. My "tree" has turned out truly amazing at this point! I'm so excited! I've also been working on some patriotic themed flowers, in honor of the upcoming Independence day celebrations! This is just too much fun...such a dream come true! The big news, however, is the phone call I received the other day. The woman was calling from the Women's Living Expo, and wanted me to run a booth for Zoe's Boutique at the expo in October. The absolute best part of this, is that I get to have my items featured in a fashion show, complete with a stage, lighting and models! I could not be happier!! More to come soon!

Neat!

So, my blog posts, updates, whatnot are waaaaaaay behind! In my defense, ok, I'm just being lazy.  I've been creating flowers, hair pieces and pendants, and packing up our house to move. Yesterday, I got the most unusual phone call. It was from a woman who had done a Google search looking for an Avon rep. My name came up, even though I really don't sell much anymore. She said she was the manager of a local Christian band, and they are doing a concert this weekend. She was wondering if I had any Avon products or coupons to offer her. I told her I'm not really selling Avon much anymore, but I DO have a bunch of hair pieces and pendants I would be willing to donate! I met with her today, and YAY ! She loved the pieces! Even said she thought a lot of people from her church would be contacting me to order more :-) As we sat there talking (as much as I COULD talk with my psychotic daughter in tow), we discovered that we had a ton in common, including both of us knowing mister Chris (well, I would hope I know him, he is my brother in law!) and the people over at Stargazer's. Small little teeny world! Anyway, my hair pieces will be featured this weekend in a big raffle giveaway to benefit the Springs Rescue Mission. If anyone is interested, the concert is being put on by Nineveh Shore at the parkway events center on April 20, from 7:30-10:30. More info at theparkwayeventscenter.ticketleap.com or 321-7827. So exciting!

Oh and as always, don't forget to check out my etsy store for products! I haven't added a whole lot lately, as I am in full on prep mode for the upcoming farmer's market season, but there is PLENTY still to look at and buy! :-) I do custom orders also, just let me know what you need!!! Click on the link below, or any of the pictures to the right! Thank you everyone again for your support!

FINALLY!!!!

Good morning, kittens! So, the last few weeks have pretty much kicked my butt in the physical aspect! Geeze! Time to move on and GET BUSY!! And, to start things off with, I have two of the coolest custom orders to fill! I am WAY excited about one of them, in particular. This fabulous young lady contacted me yesterday to see if I would be interested in doing the hair pieces/fascinators for the Pin Up girl themed bachelorette party she is throwing for her friend. All I could say was OH MY GOODNESS YES!! That is about the most fantastic idea for a bachelorette party I have EVER heard! I have so many ideas floating around in my head and I simply cannot wait to get started on this project! The bride's piece is going to be nothing short of amazing...I might have a hard time parting with it! haha! Also, as promised, I will get my latest creations uploaded.. I had a bit of a set back the other day, yet again, but things seem to be moving along just fine now!

I went in yesterday and dropped off my ideas for my latest and greatest tattoo with my lovely artist, Christy. I'm waiting ANXIOUSLY to see what design she comes up with and with any luck, I will get some work done on it this weekend!!!!! Next, to hit up my hair guru for the black and blue highlights...my roots are showing something fierce! Ok, enough of all the ramblings, I suppose it's time to get moving, have a tantalizing Thursday, loves!

What a week!!

Ok, I am finally back after one VERY trying couple of weeks. Started with me throwing my back out, and then the family got hit with a debilitating stomach virus. For anyone that has placed an order through me, they are being shipped TODAY! For anyone waiting on me to post some of my new creations, that will also be done TODAY! Thank you all for your patience! And I, for one, am glad, no "glad" doesn't cover the immense joy I am getting out of being able to drink my coffee again! Phew!

Don't forget, you can get to my Etsy.com store by clicking on any of the pictures on the sidebar of this blog, or just go here

http://www.etsy.com/shop/MissZoesBoutique?ref=pr_shop_more

I'm working on a banner for the shop, and I am adding some polymer clay pendants and tons of Easter goodies in the next few days, so hang tight! Oh, and I got my first custom pendant order in yesterday! I will be working on that today also! Busy day!! Guess I better get to it!

More choices!!

I would first like to start off with a HUGE thank you to my friends and family who have been supporting me thus far in my little venture. I know I have been trying everything under the sun, and nothing has stuck as of yet. Up until this point, I just hadn't found my niche. I loved LOVED working at the bank....and I MISS working in a professional environment like you wouldn't believe. I've been looking for something, ANYTHING to do ever since then that would keep me occupied. Obviously, I bore easily. The bank kept me thinking, staying at home, rather monotonous. Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly lucky to be able to spend this time with my baby Zoe buggins, and I can go to every school function my children have, I'm here for them every day after school, and before. I wouldn't trade that for the world, but I feel as though, in the process of being there for my family, I am losing myself entirely. Unfortunately, I've never been very good at the whole Suzy homemaker thing. Cooking, I love. This is true. But, the laundry, and cleaning and other housewifey stuff, soooooo not interesting to me. Anyway, I digress. For those of you that have supported my various ventures, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am enjoying this more than I ever thought possible....I get to be entirely creative, as wild as I want, I don't have to follow ANYONE else's rules. Whatever mood I'm in, I can create something to fit it. Now, to get people to actually BUY what I'm selling, haha! Marketing, here I come! In the meantime....

After many MANY hours on the computer, battling with the brightest flash in the world, which coincidentally belongs to my little red camera, and fighting off a cold, I have managed to post my second batch of hair pieces on Etsy and facebook! I am MUCH happier with this second batch, and it seems a lot of people are saying the same! Today, I am going to attempt doing some new creations, although a cup of hot chocolate, blankets and the couch are calling my name! Stay tuned! Remember, click on any of the pictures to the right and it will bring you to my etsy store, or you can follow this link here:

A huge shipment!!!

I have been waiting and waiting and FINALLY got the supplies in that I've been waiting for!!! now I can make truly spectacular glitter filled extravagant creations!!!! Give me a few hours and I will attempt to post some of them....if the Zoe bug permits, that is!

The back of my head!

Yes, I learned today that taking photos of the backs and sides of one's own head is a ridiculously difficult undertaking! I also learned that my flash is entirely too bright, but I can not figure out how to turn it off, so my product photos are turning out rather washed out, I promise they are much more vivid in person! In any case, I just posted my first listing ever on Etsy, and I'm pretty excited! I'm having such a blast making these hair pieces, and next I'm tackling pendants, purses and dolls :-)

Welcome to Zoe's Boutique!!

Welcome to Zoe's Boutique!! A place full of novelty and beauty. Here, you will never find the same thing twice, no two items will ever quite match, I am creating each of these things from my imagination, so you will never quite know what to expect! I can promise a few things though, each item will be handcrafted, glittery, unique, fun and best of all...AFFORDABLE!! Yes, I am a bit of a penny pincher, which is what inspired me to take on this little endeavor in the first place. So, here's the story:

I had seen a picture of someone recently who was wearing a gorgeous flower hair pin, and went on a frantic search throughout the entire city looking for one that was similar. What I found was either very poor quality, and yet high priced, or really pretty and REALLY high priced! I went online, those prices were even worse, so then I decided to try and make my own. It turned out so nicely, and I managed to make it for a very reasonable cost, I thought, why not make these available to everyone! As I did more research, and began making my creations, I thought of other accessories that I would enjoy wearing, and started creating those as well....this has spiraled out of control, and I'm a designing mad-person, but I am LOVING every minute of it. I am working on adding new items each day to my Etsy store ( I just love that sight!), as well as doing more research on the types of styles I am creating. I have learned a TON about the history of burlesque, I'll post more on that later. I have already signed on to host a booth at several big events around town here, including the Spring Spree and the Manitou Wine Festival!! I'm just giddy excited!!

After weeks of planning, designing, and creating, I am finally ready to reveal the first of MANY creations to come! Today's unveiling is all about elegant flowers for your hair! I just got back from the store, and have a ton of fantastic more supplies to design even MORE.....stay tuned!
